If you absolutely must invest your hard earned mining isk into an MD venture, be sure & read thru the comprehensive guide outlined below.
The process will take around 5 minutes to complete,
Step One Read the OP.
Read the opening statement properly word for word, be sure the terms suit your needs. Look for irregularities in numbers, reasons etc.
Step TwoKnow your fund manager
- Copy the person's name/corp & eve search it, here is an example
- Read all the posts made, try and find any patterns with alt's posting/bumping sales threads
- only made 1 post?---> See step 7
- If looking into history of 3rd party, do they have a sell order thread? have they been used for any other offerings?
Step Three Collateral, or none
Is it collateralized? = yes.
- Who is holding the collateral? --> see step 2
- What is it?
- Can it be accessed? (NPC station)
- Are they willing to let you hold it?
- have they done any previous Bonds of similar size?
- Goto ---> Step 6
Is it collateralized = no.
- Have they Done any previous uncollateralized bonds?
- Are they willing to give their API keys over for you to have a look thru market transactions/ Assets
-Are they willing to go thru an "audit"
*If yes --->Step 2 on auditor
*If No, why not?
- How many accounts do they have?
- What is their employment history?
* found a scam corp u think?--> See step 2
- Are they willing to partially collateralize it?
- How are they handling trolls?
- Have any random, no faced alts pledged any isk towards it? ---> step 2 combined search with OP's name
- Are they in an NPC corp? --- step 7
- do they have a highsec pos?
- have they mentioned "rep" building my "rep" anywhere in OP? ---> Step 7
- Have they been bumping their own thread for 7 weeks trying to fill the bond?--> Step 7
Step Four Deciding what to invest in... IPO? Bond?
- Don't be a sheep, just coz 20 other ppl are investing & you may miss the boat.
- Does the IPO have a well laid out plan, has told exactly what they are doing with the isk & have done this type of production in the past?
Step FiveDeciding what to spend
- Can you afford to lose it?
- Why do you want to make 5% on such a small amount?
- Do you really not need the funds?
Step Six
- Double check the character name before you send isk
- Add them as a contact, add them to watchlist & send notification, so they add you back.
- Send isk with the correct reason code.
- cross fingers
Step Seven
- Troll the thread with your reasons why you wont invest.

Thanks for trying to keep this thread constructive, the extra info on eve search is gold.
I plan to refer to this thread, when trolling future scammers.
With any luck we can weed these asshat's out of here, troll style, or have fun doing it
